Lewy’s year really started to take off when he won the Midlands Youth title in early July, beating a star-studded field of 135 other golfers, carrying off the title at Stoke Rochford by 3 clear shots. He also won the Under 18 title. His run of form then continued when he was 10th in the English Under 25 Championship, followed by a top 5 finish in the Carris Trophy (English Under-18 Championship). The latter is an extremely prestigious competitions with previous winners being Sandy Lyle, Ken Brown and Justin Rose.
Lewy’s exceptional performances led to him being selected to represent England at the Junior Home Internationals event held in August at Conwy in North Wales, and he contributed fully to the team’s victory.
August proved to be a great month, capped off with a stunning victory in the West of England Under 18 Amateur event, played in awful conditions at Burnham & Berrow. Again. Lewy put a high-quality field to the sword over 3 rounds winning by 4 shots in extremely high winds.
However, probably the crowning achievement of an amazing season was a convincing win in the Junior European Open held in Cadiz, Spain over 5 rounds. A brilliant final round 67 saw Lewy come from behind to win by 4 shots. The tournament, hosted by Sky Sports has seen many high profile winners including Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and host Nick Dougherty.
Currently Lewy sits at number 583 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) with 3 wins and 7 top ten finishes in his 11 2024 starts … oh, and he also won the
Marlborough Club Championship, came 3rd in the Wiltshire Foursomes Championship (he and partner Paul Sandry’s 71 was the best second round score), just missed out in the Men’s County Championship and represented the County with distinction throughout the year.
