Junior Alresford Cup, 21st September 2025
This team event is held for County Girls every year at Alresford Golf Club, Hampshire and what a wonderful job they do.
Teams of 6 girls from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Surrey, Middlesex, Berkshire, Kent and Sussex played this year, with each County entering a team of girls with a mixture handicaps ranging from <8 up to 28 for an 18-hole Stableford Competition.
Meticulously organised, by Alseford Golf Club, they ensured every 3-ball was joined by a lady club member “shepherdess”, to guide the girls around the course. The course was in great condition, with fast greens and plenty of trees proved a testing environment. With dry and cool conditions, Wiltshire girls set out to play against the other counties, some of which ONLY enter this competition. Teams are made up of 6 players and the top 4 scores count towards the team score. However unfortunately one of our team was too ill to play, so it was the best 4 Sableford scores our 5 girls who played.
Millie Potter (3.4) 34 points
Imogen Miles (11.9) 32 points
Kayla McLane (14.2) 32 points
Ella Hale (25.6) 26 points
Felicity Broom (22.1) 21 points
Total Team Score: 124 points
Wiltshire were not alone on 124 points, as Dorset and Kent had the same score, however we missed out on count-back, and relegated to 5th.
Surrey Girls played some very impressive golf and headed the scoring coming 1st with a total score of 145 points and Berkshire were 2nd with 135 points.
Congratulations go to our own Millie Potter for returning the lowest gross score (77) of the 46 girls entered.

Well done to all the girls, particularly to Ella Hale who played her first game for Wiltshire. She played really well and had the nerve wracking experience of a full clubhouse of people watching her on the 18th green. All the girls said they’d enjoyed the experience and was wonderful to see three girls from different Counties chatting together as they walk down the fairway. A credit to all golfers for palying the game in great spirit.
Many thanks to the fabulous parents who transported their daughters and walked around the course (at a distance) as ball spotters. Your continuing support is invaluable. We’ll be looking forward to playing at Alresford again in 2026.
